Ingredients

  • 250 gpasta (spaghetti or penne)
  • 1 boîte de 185gcan of tuna in water
  • 400 gcanned peeled tomatoes
  • 1 pièceonion
  • 2 goussesgarlic
  • 3 cuillères à soupeolive oil
  • 1 pincéesalt
  • 1 pincéepepper
  • 1 cuillère à caféHerbes de Provence

Instructions

  1. 1PREPARE THE AROMATIC BASE: Thinly slice the onion and lightly crush the garlic cloves after peeling them. In a large saucepan, pour the olive oil and heat over medium heat for 1 minute. Add the onion and garlic, then cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring regularly, until the onion becomes translucent and releases its aromas.
  2. 2BUILD THE TOMATO SAUCE: Pour the canned peeled tomatoes with their juice into the saucepan. Stir in the Herbes de Provence, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Increase the heat slightly and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, so the flavors blend harmoniously and the sauce thickens slightly.
  3. 3COOK THE PASTA IN PARALLEL: Fill a large pot with salted water and bring to a boil. Add the pasta and stir well to prevent sticking. Cook according to the package instructions, until al dente with a slight tender center. Drain the pasta a few minutes before the sauce is finished to reserve some cooking water.
  4. 4INCORPORATE THE TUNA: Carefully drain the canned tuna by pressing lightly with a fork. Add it to the tomato sauce 2 minutes before cooking is complete, gently breaking it apart with the back of a spoon. Mix well so the tuna distributes evenly throughout the sauce without making it mushy.
  5. 5PLATE AND SERVE: Transfer the drained pasta to shallow bowls or directly into the saucepan. Generously pour the tuna-tomato sauce over the pasta and gently toss. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately while the dish is still hot, with a drizzle of olive oil as an optional finishing touch.
